Sunday 27th December 2009 - The secound round tie in the Emirates Scottish Junior Cup between Johnstone Burgh and Vale of Clyde, scheduled to take place on Monday 28th December 2009, has been postponed for a ninth time due to a frozen pitch at Brig O' Lea Stadium in Neilston. A rearranged date and venue for this match has yet to be confirmed.

Monday 21st December 2009 - The funeral arrangements for former club president Tom Gilbert have now been confirmed. A new date has been for the Emirates Scottish Junior Cup 2nd round tie between Johnstone Burgh and Vale of Clyde, which has been postponed eight times. The match will now be played at Brig O' Lea Stadium in Neilston on Monday 28th December 2009, with kick off at 1.45pm. The winner will be away to The Glens in the 3rd round, on a date which has yet to be confirmed.

Sunday 20th December 2009 - Rutherglen Glencairn Football Club were deeply saddened to learn of the death of former club president Mr Tom Gilbert. The club would like to send its deepest sympathies to Tom's wife Mary and his son Mark, and the Gilbert family.

Saturday 19th December 2009 - Today's home league match against Clydebank was postponed due to a frozen pitch at The Clyde Gateway Stadium. All of the other matches in all competitions in the West Region were also postponed, so with the leagues now going into shutdown for the holiday period, The Glens finish the year with a 7-point lead in the league.

The match between Johnstone Burgh and Vale of Clyde in the Emirates Scottish Junior Cup 2nd round was postponed today for the 8th time, so Glencairn still do not know who their opponents in the 3rd round will be, or what date that match will be played. As soon as we have more information on the scheduled dates for both the 2nd and 3rd rounds it will appear here.

Friday 18th December 2009 - Supporters of Glencairn and Clydebank should note that a pitch inspection is planned for Saturday morning ahead of the scheduled match between the sides in the afternoon. The result of that inspection will appear here as soon as a decision is confirmed.

Tuesday 15th December 2009 - The draw was made for the 4th round of the Emirates Scottish Junior Cup today, and if The Glens win their 3rd round tie against Johnstone Burgh or Vale of Clyde, then they will be away to local rivals Cambuslang Rangers in the next round. The 4th round ties are scheduled for Saturday 16th January 2010, however that is dependant on the 2nd and 3rd round ties being completed by that date.

Saturday 12th December 2009 - The Glens extended their lead at the top of the league to 7 points with a 3-1 home win against Renfrew today. Glencairn's goal scorers were Stephen O'Keane, Kenny Hadden and Richie Burke. (Click here for pictures and a full match report.)

The Glens will now play a league match next Saturday instead, at home against Renfrew, with kick off at 1.45pm.

Monday 30th November 2009 Because of the Emirates Scottish Junior Cup 2nd round match between Johnstone Burgh and Vale of Clyde being postponed for a 5th time last Saturday, this has had a knock-on effect on fixtures in various leagues for this coming weekend and potentially the following weekend as well.

To clarify the situation, Glencairn will now play a league match at home to Maybole Juniors on Saturday 5th December 2009, with kick off at The Clyde Gateway Stadium at 1.45pm.

If Johnstone Burgh v Vale of Clyde goes ahead at the 6th attempt on Saturday 5th December 2009, then as long as the game does not end in a draw, the winner will play The Glens at The Clyde Gateway Stadium on Saturday 12th Decmeber 2009, with kick off at 1.45pm.

If Johnstone Burgh v Vale of Clyde is postponed again, or if the game is played but ends in a draw, then the rearranged or replayed match will automatically be arranged for Saturday 12th December 2009. In that event, Glencairn will instead play another league match that day, at home to Renfrew, with kick off at The Clyde Gateway Stadium at 1.45pm.

In any circumstances, The Glens are scheduled to be playing at home for the next two Saturdays, and the kick off time for both games will be 1.45pm. The opposition for the 2nd game will obviously be confirmed after this weekend's games are completed.

Co-manager Scott Smith is delighted to have tied up the trio, and he commented to the Rutherglen Reformer, "Steven Kerr is a boy who has played at Super League level and he'll fill the right back gap left by Willie Galloway leaving no problem. Paul Thomson can play up front or in midfield, his attitude is different class and his workrate is phenomenal. He's one of the players you need who will graft for you all day long. Paul McLaughlin is probably the biggest signing out of all three of them. He is a player who, on his day, is as good as any forward going about in any of the junior leagues. He's an exceptional talent. Things haven't been working for him at Vale of Clyde but we're pretty sure things will work well for him at Glencairn."
